3mph named Wheat Ridge Reads Book of the Year!
“We’re very excited about this program,” said Joan Iler, Wheat Ridge Cultural Commissioner. “Our goal is to promote a culture of reading in Wheat Ridge and bring the community together in a shared reading experience. We hope to build on this program and, if we’re successful, offer it as an annual event.”
Wheat Ridge Reads is a citywide book club. Residents are invited to join by reading 3MPH: The Adventures of One Woman’s Walk Around the World, by Colorado author, Polly Letofsky. This awe-inspiring book tells the story of the author’s five-year odyssey to walk around the world to raise awareness of breast cancer. She chronicles the pain and glory of a 14,000 mile journey across four continents and 22 countries. It is an inspirational account of what one person can do to improve the world, literally one small step at a time.
The Wheat Ridge Cultural Commission will also sponsor and promote book discussion groups throughout the summer to encourage community interaction and exchange. The program will culminate with two special presentations by the author herself, offered to the public free of charge at the following dates and times:
Date: September 15
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Richards-Hart Estate,
Address: W. 28th Ave and Benton St, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
